Experience Ireland by motorhome

Let's start by picking up a vehicle. To explore Ireland's dream roads and most beautiful regions by motorhome, you need to start in the small town of Rathkeale near Limerick. The town is located in the south-west of the country. It is around two and a half hours by car from Dublin and around one and a half hours from Cork. As soon as the motorhome is picked up, there are dozens of options as to which region to visit. And this selection has it all. The so-called Ring of Kerry is particularly popular. Many consider it to be the most beautiful panoramic road in the world. This is due to the numerous cliffs, historic fortresses and small villages that are passed during a drive along the almost two hundred kilometre long coastal road. The unique route can be found in County Kerry - not far from Limerick. Although the route does not seem very far at first glance, you should allow enough time - especially for a hike or two. The Dingle Peninsula is located directly to the north. It offers similarly fantastic views, but in contrast to the Ring of Kerry, it is still more of an insider tip. The Slea Head Drive and Connor Pass in particular are truly spectacular coastal roads - some of which are more than four hundred metres above sea level. In addition to nature, there are numerous smaller towns in the south-west of the country that are well worth a stopover. Another natural highlight in the south-west of Ireland is Killarney National Park. This comprises three lakes and is home to numerous special trees - some of which are even exotic species that are otherwise only found in the Mediterranean region. The Killarney National Park also offers fascinating, sometimes hilly landscapes for short or longer hikes. In addition to the breathtaking routes along the coast and through Killarney National Park, Ireland's fascinating castles, fortresses and ancient ruins can be marvelled at in a motorhome. There are no fewer than thirty thousand of them scattered across the country. So fans of historic walls will get their money's worth. This is also the case in the Viking towns of Kilkenny and Waterford. Waterford, located in the south-east of the country, is also considered the oldest city in the country. Kilkenny is located a few kilometres to the north. Both towns can easily be explored during a one- or two-day stay. Other places worth visiting are the larger cities of Cork and Dublin. The journey is the reward - this definitely applies when visiting Ireland in a motorhome.

Discover Ireland in a motorhome

If you can wake up in the morning and look out over the Atlantic Ocean and the picturesque coastline and beaches of Ireland from your campervan, you are undoubtedly lucky. The opportunities for this are outstanding. Most of them are open between April and October. If you want to enjoy the view of the water in the morning, you can book a pitch at Mannix Point Camping and Caravan Park, for example. This is perfectly located directly on the Ring of Kerry and offers around forty pitches. A campsite that truly has everything a camper's heart could wish for can be found right next to Killarney National Park. Fleming's White Bridge Caravan & Camping Park is situated on a river and offers around ninety pitches, electricity, Wi-Fi, washing and cooking facilities and numerous other amenities. On the Dingle Peninsula, Anchor Caravan Park, also located directly on the Atlantic Ocean, is the perfect option for one or more overnight stays in the beautiful countryside. You can find an overview of the entire selection of campsites while exploring Ireland by motorhome by searching the internet. This should definitely be done before travelling. It is also advisable to pre-book pitches, especially for holiday periods. The relatively smaller campsites in particular could otherwise be fully booked if you try to book spontaneously. See for yourself the magical landscapes, the hospitality of the Irish and the many highlights of the country. You can get a little closer to Ireland in just a few clicks on the CU | Camper website. Have fun in a wonderful country!
