CU | Camper has become our go-to campervan rental company whenever we’re planning a trip anywhere in the world. We booked with CU | Camper previously in Australia and again found their prices to be the best in New Zealand. They are incredibly responsive to any questions or inquiries we’ve had, and I have only had amazing interactions with all their team members.
This time, we booked a McRent Family Plus campervan through CU | Camper for three weeks, and their price was still the best we found. The booking process was super simple; we booked directly on their website and paid easily by credit card. It was so smooth that the time saved alone made it worth booking through CU | Camper.
When we arrived in Christchurch, New Zealand, McRent already had all of our information and our campervan was ready immediately. We rented a ‘Family Plus’ and it was by far the BEST campervan we’ve rented so far. It was incredibly spacious and the layout was so functional that I think it will be our go-to campervan from now on.
The beds were all comfortable, and the kitchen and bathroom were perfect for our family to cook all our meals and keep ourselves clean. The Fiat engine was powerful and handled all terrain beautifully, driving smoothly up hills and around turns. There was also plenty of storage for all four of our suitcases, plus our outdoor furniture. The cabin had lots of additional storage, so we could keep our food and clothes organized and easy to access.
One thing that really surprised us was how much power the solar panel on the McRent Family Plus provided. It kept all our devices charged, allowing us to freedom camp for up to five days without needing a powered site. I’m not sure if everyone would get the same results, but we easily charged two iPhones, four iPads, two battery packs, and a laptop for four days using just solar power. You really can’t go wrong with the McRent Family Plus if you’re traveling as a family.
We drove all over New Zealand’s South Island, starting in Christchurch and making a full loop around the island. We even made it out to Milford Sound, a drive that was both beautiful and challenging. There were lots of turns and steep climbs, but the McRent handled it all flawlessly. We did have one moment where we thought we were going to run out of gas because we forgot to fill up before heading out, but the RV made it through that too.
New Zealand’s weather can be very unpredictable, but our McRent Family Plus performed exceptionally well in all conditions. Even when we were parked during strong winds and heavy rain, the campervan held up great. I mention this because CU | Camper only rents out the best, most reliable vehicles. In my experience, every campervan I’ve rented through them, whether Britz, Maui, or McRent, has been relatively new and therefore very reliable.
That kind of consistent quality gives you real peace of mind when you’re traveling around a foreign country.
I’ve used CU | Camper for every campervan I’ve rented because they’re professional, responsive, and offer the most competitive pricing I’ve found online. Whether you’re traveling in Australia, New Zealand, or anywhere else in the world, CU | Camper should be your first choice. You won’t be disappointed.
