Experience the United Kingdom by motorhome
It is therefore worth planning a few days before or after your motorhome trip to explore the respective cities. The global metropolis of London in particular has so much to offer that it is worth spending at least three days there. London is also an exception. In the other cities, the first or last nights can easily be spent on a campsite in a motorhome. In London, on the other hand, it is not necessarily advisable to move around a lot in a campervan. On the one hand, the local public transport network is excellent. Furthermore, traffic in the city is usually so dense that it is easy on both petrol and nerves to do without a motorhome - at least for active participation in road traffic.
Depending on where you start your motorhome tour of England, you can discover unique landscapes or natural sights. Stonehenge is a good example. The legendary stone formation in the south-west of the country still puzzles researchers to this day and is perhaps a much-visited relic of days gone by for this very reason. Another historical site is similarly historic and can be reached when touring the north of England in a motorhome. Hadrian's Wall is located not far from the Scottish border and was used as such after its construction. Emperor Hadrian had the ramparts built in the second century to protect the Roman colony of the time from Scottish tribes. The fact that remains of this fortification system can still be marvelled at today speaks for itself. Other popular regions in England that have a lot to offer are Cornwall and Devon in the south-west.
A special attraction can be found in the centre of Cornwall - a botanical garden on an oversized scale. It attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The so-called Eden Project covers fifty hectares and is laid out in such a way that these streams of people are optimally distributed. The numerous plants, greenhouses and sculptures on the site surprise visitors with their diversity. A one-day visit to the huge garden is therefore highly recommended.
England is not the only destination worth visiting. There are also numerous reasons to explore Scotland in a motorhome. The country is in no way inferior to England in terms of scenery. The Highlands alone, with their striking green hilly landscapes and unique stretches of coastline, are a well-known and treasured area. On the Isle of Skye in the west of the country, there are perhaps the most beautiful landscapes to marvel at. Shrouded in legend is Loch Ness - an immensely deep lake that gained fame in the last century due to the supposed sighting of a sea monster and still attracts many tourists today.
And finally, there are the numerous castles and fortresses - often in ruins - that give Scotland its very own charm. If you want to marvel at some of them, the "Highlander castle" Eilean Donan Castle in the west of Scotland is the place to be. In the east, not far from Aberdeen, the ruins of Dunnottar Castle are enthroned on a rocky outcrop - a postcard-perfect motif. And then there is Edinburgh Castle, which offers a fantastic view of the city.
This castle is a particularly good place to explore before or after picking up the vehicle. Edinburgh also offers so much to see that it makes sense to explore the city in two or three days - before or after travelling to Scotland's most beautiful regions in a motorhome.
From there, it's not far to the borders of Wales. Mystical rocky and coastal landscapes also await in this country. The sparse population and scenic beauty mean that travelling through Wales in a motorhome has become more than just an insider tip.

Belfast: Starting point for legends & coastal roads
Belfast has reinvented itself. The home of the Titanic is now a vibrant metropolis & the perfect starting point for what is probably the most spectacular road trip in the north of the Emerald Isle: the Causeway Coastal Route.
🚐 Why start here?
- Causeway Coastal Route: You start right at the beginning of one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world - a dream for every motorhome driver.
- Overlooked: Belfast is more compact & traffic-wise more relaxed than Dublin. You are quickly out of the city & in the middle of the green hilly landscape. Titanic heritage: Visit the world's largest Titanic visitor centre right where the ship was built before you start the engine.
📍 Destinations within striking distance
- Giant's Causeway: The UNESCO World Heritage Site with its 40,000 basalt columns is just over an hour away - an absolute must-see programme.
- The Dark Hedges: The mystical beech avenue (known as the Royal Road from "Game of Thrones") is practically on the way to the coast.
- Carrick-a-Rede: Dare to cross the famous suspension bridge, which connects the mainland with a small rocky island at a dizzying height.
- Mourne Mountains: Head south to the highest mountains in Northern Ireland - a paradise for hikers & nature lovers.
👥 Ideal for...
- Series junkies: Northern Ireland is "Game of Thrones" country. Many of the most spectacular filming locations are right on your route.
- Coastal fans: Those who love rugged cliffs, green meadows & roaring seas will never forget this road trip.
- History buffs: From the shipbuilding tradition to the complex political history, Belfast offers profound insights.
