Every year, a number of brand-new campervans roll off the production lines, primarily in manufacturing hubs around the Midwest. These vehicles need to get to rental depots in major tourist hot spots like San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, and Orlando.

Why choose a transfer over a standard rental?
Brand new vehicle: You are likely the first person to sleep in the bed or use the cooker and there is no wear and tear.
One-way adventure: Because you don’t need to loop back to your starting point, every mile pushes you forward into new territory. You can cross entire climate zones and witness the landscape dramatically change day by day without ever seeing the same view twice.
Price: It is the cheapest way to drive a luxury RV.
Convenience: A free bus transfer is often included from your hotel to the depot where you collect your camper.
The “need to know”

Time limits: You have a specific window to complete the trip. However, operators like El Monte, Cruise, and Road Bear RV often offer generous timeframes (up to 4 weeks), allowing for a relaxed pace.
Mileage: You typically receive a specific “free mileage” allowance sufficient to cover the direct route plus some sightseeing. Some deals even offer unlimited mileage!

While the rental fee is low, remember to budget for:
Fuel: American motorhomes are powerful beasts that drink a lot of fuel.
Campsites: You will need to book RV parks or campsites along the way.
Personal expenses: As with any trip, food, drink, and National Park entry fees are your responsibility.
